NAB appoints new state franchise banking senior partnersWritten on the 13 October 2009 The National Australia Bank (NAB) has appointed Simon Ovenden as Senior Partner, Franchise Banking (QLD) and Shaun Needs as Senior Partner, NAB Franchise Banking (SA/NT). NAB National Manger Franchise Banking, Darryn McAuliffe, said that these internal appointments further strengthen NAB’s specialised franchise team and commitment to its customers. “The appointment of Shaun and Simon to our specialised franchise banking team will further boost our ability to service franchise customers located in regional and metropolitan South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory,” Mr McAuliffe said. “Together with the team of accredited franchise bankers, Shaun and Simon will ensure NAB franchise customers are met with tailored financial solutions to achieve their aspirations,” he said. Following more than 20 years’ management experience in the meat, liquor distribution and property development industries, Simon Ovenden bring to the NAB team expertise in sales, marketing, finance and administration. Simon’s focus is to grow NAB’s Franchise Banking team and be the bank\'s key contact for all matters in and around the franchising sector in Queensland. "My immediate priorities are to build solid commercial relationships with Queensland franchise groups and enhance the capability of our metropolitan and provincially-based bankers,” Simon said. “I’m keen to utilise my diverse commercial background, first-hand experience of the daily challenges and needs of business operators to support and manage relationships with franchisors, franchisees and other key stakeholders," he said. Previously a Partner at NAB’s Adelaide Central Business Banking Centre (BBC), Shaun’s many roles within the organisation managing relationships and providing specialised financial solutions position him well to manage NAB’s franchise banking strategy in SA and the NT. “I’m looking forward to working as part of our dedicated Franchise Banking team to first and foremost ensure that the needs of our customers and sector partners are well serviced,” Shaun said. “At NAB, our relationship focus means we understand the difficulties business owners are facing in the current market, not only in the franchising sector, and we’re here to help our customers through these volatile times,” he said.
